Awesome days!

After the weather ups and downs of late, we're finally having the beautiful summer that we've been waiting for! The snow didn't kill the plants. They're all starting to bloom. The peonies are beautiful and smell sooo good. I wish I could get a picture of them posted. Ron has had the boat out a few times now. I haven't been brave enough to get in the water yet. The temp is only about 62 degrees. I'll wait!!!

Snow in Montana in June?

I was woken up from sleep this morning by what sounded like snow being blown by my bedroom window but I totally refused to believe it. I laid there for a few minutes trying to figure it out and finally had to get up and look. Sure enough-snow. And lots of it. There's about 3 inches so far and the wind is really blowing hard. My first concern was for the horses. They've shedded off all of their hair and don't have any way to get out of the wind. I quickly bundled up in all of my winter clothes and went out to feed early and check on them. They were literally standing there shivering so I threw them hay right away. That's how they produce warmth in their bodies. I'll check again when it gets light out and if they haven't warmed up, I'll have to figure out how to get them inside. They'll survive but I'm not sure about all of my outside plants. Everything was looking sooo great with all of the rain we've had but this weather will probably kill them. I'm bummed!

Will it ever be summer?

I hope the little bit of warm weather we had last week wasn't the only summer we're going to get this year! We're back to cold and rainy again! Not much to outside again and so I'm feeling completely house bound. We did get the chance to start scouting our camping sites for our big horsebackriding trip at the end of July tho. We found some awesome horse camping spots on the Rocky Mountasin front last weekend and MaryLu and I are going to go again tomarrow to check out a couple more. The rivers are running high and there's still snow in the mountains so we're thinking the fires will be less and we'll be safe to go anywhere this year. I'll take pictures tomarrow and see if I can figure out how to put them on my spot. I'm totally excited to get out and do some riding and camping! It can't get here fast enough. More on the trip later.
